Steam Frame, Valve's latest entry in the VR hardware market, will cost AU$1,609 in Australia for the 256 GB model with included VR controllers. For the 1 TB Steam Frame model with included VR controllers, the Aussie price is AU$1,969.

The price isn't super surprising: the entry level model costs the same as the entry level Steam Machine. There's also the not-insignificant problem of the ongoing memory crisis: Valve would have preferred to release it cheaper.

The memory crisis has also necessitated another hardware waitlist. Like the Steam Machine, you won't be able to simply buy a Steam Frame and receive one a few days later. PC Gamer's hardware team has been testing Valve's newest piece of kit, with Jacob pinning an 80 / 100 to the device in his Steam Frame review. "It's admittedly a tough sell as an upgrade to a Quest 3, or as someone's first step into VR when other options are much cheaper, but the Steam Frame is the best all-round VR headset I've used to date," he wrote.
