Snoop Dogg's biopic has cast Swayvo Twain, the son of D'Angelo, as The Notorious B.I.G.

The Snoop Dogg biopic, simply titled Snoop, was announced in 2022, and is now ramping up for release next summer. Over the last couple of months, the film has added a number of actors to its cast to play legendary rappers like the titular musician himself, Nate Dogg, Dr. Dre, Tupac, and more. The movie is comprised of a mostly unknown/up-and-coming cast, which now includes Swayvo Twain, the son of D'Angelo.

Swayvo Twain will play one of the all-time great hip-hop artists, The Notorious B.I.G., in the film. It's unclear how much screen time he'll have in the actual movie itself, but he obviously played a big role in the rise of rap in the '90s. Snoop Dogg and Notorious B.I.G. were heavily involved in the East-Coast-West-Coast rivalry, which will almost certainly play a role in the movie. The film is being directed by Craig Brewer, who helmed 2025's Song Sung Blue and 2005's Hustle and Flow.

Snoop Dogg himself is having a pretty active time in the entertainment industry as a whole. The rapper is the current elusive target in Hitman and will play an original character in the Yakuza prequel, Stranger Than Heaven, next year. Tupac's likeness is also being leveraged for a different character in that title.

Snoop is expected to hit theaters on August 6, 2027.
