MapleStory vs. RuneScape. The epic comparison.
Both games have very good points to them and are both one-of-a-kind.
So I know you will all choose MapleStory over RuneScape, but I thought this was worth looking in to.
Now let us look into 2 of the finer points of each game.
RuneScape:
1. RuneScape is a skilling based game, which no other MMORPG has done thus far, to my current knowledge.
2. RuneScape has an awesome PvP system, although it could be much better.
MapleStory:
1. Just like RuneScape, it is also one-of-a-kind with a 2D graphic and control system, which works very well.
2. It does NOT cost a monthly fee to play the full-version of the game.
Now let's look at 2 of the lesser points of each game.
RuneScape:
1. The graphics are terrible. (not that I personally care)
2. RuneScape costs 5$ a month to enjoy the full-version of it's gameplay.
MapleStory:
1. It does not have a PvP system of any sort.
2. It takes the same amount of time to get to level 200 on this game as it does to get 200,000,000 experience in every skill on RuneScape.
Now let us get into further detail of these games.
Real-Life Item Trading:
To experience the game at the best you can, you have to pay money. But for MapleStory, they are pressuring you to buy items and revive your pets and buy items via real life money. RuneScape fully discourages this and you will get banned for doing so. I disagree and agree with this. For people who have not enough time to fully experience an MMORPG, this sounds awesome. But for players who try and earn everything they obtain, this sounds like an unfair advantage.
I think RuneScape wins out on this one
Graphics:
RuneScape has been hated for it's graphics. MapleStory has nothing to be scoffing about, though. The fact that RuneScape is a 3D game makes up for it's graphics when compared to MapleStory. I still do have to say that the gameplay of RuneScape matches up to it's crap graphics.
I think MapleStory wins this one out.
Gameplay:
RuneScape is a very, very slow paced game. MapleStory is pretty fast-paced, but it doesn't necessarily make it better. MapleStory is based on either enemies running into you or them throwing something at you. RuneScape, however, is about either casting a spell, shooting an arrow, or hitting someone with a Melee weapon.
I think RuneScape wins this one out.
PvP:
Runescape wins this one out, as MapleStory has no PvP.
Music:
RuneScape's music is nothing to awe about. MapleStory's music has much more depth and time put into it.
I think MapleStory wins out on this one.
PvE:
In RuneScape, if you die in PvE, you lose most of your items. In MapleStory, you don't lose your hard-earned items, but you lose Experience you worked hard to obtain. MapleStory's bosses also look much better than RuneScape's and there are more epic bosses than RuneScape.
I think MapleStory wins out on this one.
Items:
MapleStory does have a collection of items, but RuneScape has a better range and more creative weapons. Plus, since RuneScape is a skill-building game, there are a diverse amount of various items MapleStory could never match up to.
RuneScape wins this one out for sure.
So, all in all, both games carry and epic gaming experience behind them. I hope you guys can discuss what I have wrote and look forward to my future game comparisons, that is if I'm allowed to continue them. Please be Mature, though, and not scream ROONSKAP3 SUX!!11!!one!!1one! Let us have a REAL discussion. -Zel
